Replying to @sammy.huang_ While we can infer all day, the textual evidence suggests ambiguity for Lou Lou/Louella based on Suzanne's exact and consistent choices of verbiage. The movie depictions are also not canon to the books (obviously, hardly any of the cast fit the book descriptions anyway). D11's contribution is extremely important to the rebellion and most definitely represents how black people and other underrepresented communities are always first to fight despite being last to receive rights. It being a primarily black district makes sense and is as canon as Suzanne has made it based on geography and those reaped but she is also very clear when someone has dark or brown skin.  #louellamccoy #sunriseonthereaping #thehungergames

My Real Name

I have always found an escape between the pages of any book I could get my hands on, but escapism also meant fully engaging with every aspect of the text. I value the written word and how it offers so many pieces of itself, ready for me tackle it at my own pace. As a woman who sits in a space of many multitudes, books are often the only time I have the opportunity to see those multitudes merging together and celebrated by those around me. My goal is to tackle the literacy crisis one annotation at a time by delving into novels meant of all genres and breaking them down step by step. We live in a world where the human condition alone is an exhibition of trauma, so lets unwind that through the power of words. I am an editor, Percy Jackson collector, Indigenous woman, and queer but most importantly, I am me.
